Abstract

If we look at the literary arena of Bangladesh, we can see that the topic of the Language Movement has been replete with multidimensional resonance in the literary works of our creative writers. Momtazuddin Ahmed (1935-2019), a prominent figure in Bengali drama, is one of those creative writers. Bibaho (composed 1979, published 1985), the best play by Momtazuddin Ahmed, is about the bloodz revival of Bengalis in the Language Movement of 1952 and the story of their unity in the great Liberation War with the aim of this revival. Numerous language martyrs who sacrificed their lives to establish the dignity of the mother tongue are memorable and welcome to us. Apart from the language martyrs, there are many others in our society who consider language martyrs as their own and live by holding on to their memories for years. We find one such person in the drama Bibaho. Sakhina's future husband was martyred while participating in the Language Movement procession. In this incident, Sakhina sets aside her personal pain and moves forward on the path of greater revival. The research paper will discuss how the martyrdom of Sakhina's future husband in the Language Movement inspired the unarmed warrior Sakhina to speak about a larger or collective revival.
